Scrapbooking #1

What the heck have I been up to?? Well, besides starting a new job, putting the house up for sale, and expecting our second child, I’ve stepped away from card making for a short period of time. However, I didn’t give up crafting altogether!

Sometime in December, I ended up developing every photo I had of my daughter. I had intended on just putting them in photo albums and calling it a day, but once I had them in-hand, I had the strongest itch to get them organized and scrapbooked. I’ve gotten away from scrapbooking in the past decade because I couldn’t keep up with my photos, and 12×12 page designs overwhelmed me. WELL, to scrapbook my daughter’s first year, I decided to try combining traditional scrapbooking with Project Life!

By utilizing the Project Life pages and designing the small inserts within each pocket, it was a lot less overwhelming, because I didn’t need to come up with 12×12 designs for each page. Now I think of the small, individual elements as a card design that I need to design with the rest of the page. It makes the process much more manageable.

I had a crafting weekend the first weekend in January, and was able to get through about 50 PAGES! I’ve been going back and tweaking them slightly, but I’m really happy with how everything is turning out. This also allows me to use stamps, dies, and stickers that I didn’t see useful for card making! I’m very excited I decided to expand my craftiness, and look forward to completing her first year scrapbook.

Here’s a sneak peak at one of the first 2-page layouts I did. Since they’re in the page inserts, they didn’t photograph the greatest, but hopefully you can get the point.
