Custom Project Life Card Redo

Hi friends! As I’ve mentioned, I’ve really been getting into using some of the basic concepts for Project Life in my scrapbooking. Since I’m currently on maternity leave, I spend a lot of time at my computer while snuggling or feeding my little one so I’ve had a chance to watch a lot of process videos and read a lot of blogs.

After learning more strategies and tips from other crafters, I decided to go back and rework some of the Project Life cards I created on my own almost as year ago, which you’ll see below.

Something about the original version of this card bothered me. I’ve never been good at figuring out how to put a tag in a layout, the font for the title seemed off, and everything felt a little too random. I’m much happier with the updated version with the font mixes, the use of the papers, and the simpler design. The sewing is a little crooked because I’m still learning how to use my sewing machine, but I think it works.

I’ve taken some time off from cardmaking the past few weeks and have been digging more into scrapbooking. While I’m not documenting my life on a weekly basis as what’s intended for Project Life, I’ve been using Project Life basics to do my scrapbooking.

I use the page protector layouts, design filler cards, and embellish my layouts just as you do with Project Life. The biggest difference is that I’m scrapbooking events… or a certain day… or a few days… or a few weeks… or a certain holiday rather than detailing each week for every layout. I’ve really been loving it and have come across many inspirational YouTube videos and blogs to help with my process.

Something I’m most excited about is I found a way to print my journaling on my filler cards so I don’t need to worry about my terrible handwriting on my layouts. I will hopefully be posting about how to do that in the next couple weeks.

For now, here is a peek at a layout I went back and redid after printing off my journaling and fine-tuning some of my embellishing. I’m so in trouble! This style of scrapbooking is very addicting, and I have SO many photos to catch up on. 😉
