Color Swapping with a Die

I purchased the Quadrangle Frames die set from Simon Says Stamp a couple months ago, and the squares ended up being smaller than what I thought they would be. I really like the dies, but I’d been struggling with ideas on how to use them.

I came across the Close to my Heart Something Splendid stamp set which featured a large flower, and I had an idea to create a color swap set of cards using one of the frame dies.

Color Swap with Quadrangle Frames Die

It took a couple tries to problem solve how to make it work, but I think it turned out beautiful. A few things I learned from this design:

– Mama Elephant inks will bleed with the Wink of Stella pen which is the reason I didn’t use it on these finished cards.
– Die cut the stitched rectangle border die BEFORE adhering the frame layers if you plan to use multiple layers. I used the rectangle die after assembling the entire front panel on a different card, and it smooshed down all my framing layers.
– To make sure both cards are cut from the same exact location since you’re swapping the images, I found layering the papers on top of each other and running them through your die-cutting machine at the same time works best.
– In order to line up the stamps exactly, the MISTI is a must! If everything isn’t stamped in exactly the same place for both cards it could mess up the entire design.
